Synthesia piano simulator is an open source that allows you to play virtually any tune that is in MIDI format.

The interface and operations of the program will remind you the one of Guitar Hero. You must hold a certain note while the sound is being reproduced.

Synthesia can be used both with the computer keyboard and MIDI external devices. The melodies can be played with two hands, or one hand and automatically by your computer.

Synthesia MIDIs includes a package of songs from various games: Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros or Zelda, but we recommend you to start with something simple.
